Pixel at 8 months

Pixel in the classroom!

Doesn't she look like a good student?
We started Puppy Flyball class in December, and she's been perfecting her recalls tremendously.  We started doing recalls alone, then with another dog in another lane gated off, then with no gates and now opposing recalls were added this week.  She was a rock star (as was her sister, Gabby).  Additionally, our club's photographer, Doug Neal, got some awesome shots of Pixel in action.  See below:

This is from our 2nd or 3rd recall class. Pixel is definitely focused on her "prize"!  This, right now, is her favorite tug toy.  Ball and Frisbee are #1, though.

But, you clearly wouldn't know that the sheepy tug is one of her favorites looking at this picture!  This was class #4, and the confidence is definitely improving.  I call this picture "Air time".  Best.  Picture.  Ever.

Here's a video of Pixel and her sister Gabby rocking some recalls against some very intense BC puppies.

The other class we finished up was Denise Fenzi's "Building Relationship through Play."  We took it online via www.agility-u.com.  Very fun class.  We learned 3 different types of play we could engage our dogs with - toy play, personal play (no toy) and food play.  We sent in videos of us practicing the different types of play and were critiqued and seen by hundreds of students from around the world and Denise.  It's a very unique way to learn, and you don't have to leave your back yard!  Here's a video list of our work, it's basically a bunch of videos of Pixel and I playing, and playing, and playing - such fun!  I'm sure it won't make a lot of sense unless you were in the class, but...what the hey...!  Coming up soon is "Fit to be Tricked" - Improve your dog’s fitness and agility ability while teaching them fun and exciting tricks.
Instructor(s): Chris Ott and Frankie Joiris.  I'm thinking about taking this one, and I neeed to decide soon because it starts next week!

Week 1:

And

Week2:

Week 3:  I had just had surgery the week prior, so I'm a little more subdued here in this video.

Week 4:

Here's me working on the "dead toy game" with Pixel (not related to the class except I was trying to teach her to tug up, so I didn't have to bend over so much).

Week 5&6:  I got slack on week 5 so I had to post week 5 & 6 in one video.  Bad Momma!

Just kicking off this week is Pixel's first Agility class.  In it, she'll be learning hind end awareness, crate games galore, relationship building with other teams around, and shaping a few obstacles like tunnel, table and tire.  I'm teaching it, and Ami's Pixel's partner.  Videos will be coming.
